(Prep) Robot Cake

My son loves robots, so of course he said he wanted a robot 3rd birthday party.  When I saw that a Transformers cake was $30 at a local supermarket (and we all know how supermarket cakes can turn out), I decided to try to make my own.  Go-Go-Google Images!  I came across a lot of cakes, but not one that 100% caught my eye, so I decided to blend in different cake ideas that I liked.  How the cake will turn out is anyone's guess.

Projection
My experience:  I can bake a mean cake, but as far as decorating I am mostly inexperienced
Project Difficulty:  Easy
Time:  Finish the cake the night before his birthday
Materials: Create the cake by hand, from batter to frosting to completion.  I want to buy/use pans that I can use in the future
Prep:  Layout the design and elements beforehand, and make a small batch of cake and frosting prior to make sure I like the recipe used

Materials
Cake pans: 11x13 and 9x9
Flower Nail (used instead of heating core to cook the center of the cake as even as the sides)
Cake recipe: Cheated and used Funfetti
Frosting recipe: Cheated and used Betty Crocker
Misc: Use common things found in any supermarket

Prep
I used cm = inches to scale the drawing to the cake pan sizes to figure out how to cut the cakes for the end result
